Safe Harbor Tang Soo Do

For over 30 years Safe Harbor has provided instruction in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do.  We cultivate a safe and welcoming environment for all ages.

Tang Soo Do is considered a classical martial art, designed and intended to progressively develop character, integrity, self-discipline and respect for others. Students practice a variety of self-defense techniques, artistic forms, competitive low-contact sparring, and dynamic board breaking. At Safe Harbor Martial Arts, they put the emphasis on the "ART". While observing many time-honored traditions, they are constantly looking to create new and positive ones by providing an atmosphere of Safety, Tolerance, Humor, and Mutual Respect.

Over a period of time, students can progress in rank in the martial arts through tests before a qualified board of black belt instructors. For students who wish to compete, there are several safe, approved tournaments available throughout the year, as well as the opportunity to perform in demonstrations and to coach others. Safe Harbor also conducts other clinics and enjoyable social events throughout the year.

Residents of the Northshore now have a smarter, simpler, more effective option for self-defense education: Safe Harbor Martial Arts and More, LLC. Safe Harbor’s self-defense classes are open to all. Every class is tailored to each student’s ability and experience, and instructors work with beginners one on one and small-group settings.

Weekly one-hour high-intensity self-defense-oriented classes, which are open to adults and teens (15 and older) of all skill levels, include bag work, stretching, calisthenics, and cardio drills, occur Mondays 6:00-7:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00-12:00 pm at the 319 Cabot Street studio in Beverly. Students can enroll in a monthly plan or pay $20/session- no contracts are required.

Safe Harbor’s focused and individualized self-defense training delivers measurable results and benefits in as little as one hour per week. And, for a limited time, new clients can take advantage of a free, two-week trial and see these results for themselves.

In addition to self-defense classes, Safe Harbor offers traditional Tang Soo Do martial arts training Tuesdays and Thursdays at the LVO YMCA (Marblehead) 6-7pm and Saturdays at the Beverly studio 11am-12pm. Teens and adults of all skill and fitness abilities are welcome.

Since its soft opening in July 2022, Safe Harbor’s Beverly location has received numerous positive reviews from clients, many of whom were skeptical at first about their abilities. “What a great workout!” exclaimed Debbie B. “It felt like empowerment". The instructors were very patient and informed, which was great because I had a lot of questions. The facility is awesome and conveniently located, I can easily work it into my pretty crazy schedule.” Lisa R. added that the martial arts workout is a “really great way to stay fit with a busy lifestyle.”

If you have been thinking, “I need to get back to working out”, now’s the time to do it. You just have to step through that door!
